Concha y Toro Winery Visit from Santiago: Chile's Most Famous Vineyard
The Concha y Toro winery in Pirque, just 30 kilometres south of Santiago, is Chile's most visited wine estate and one of South America's most iconic vineyard experiences. Founded in 1883, the estate sprawls across the Maipo Valley with century-old colonial buildings and wine cellars that include the legendary Casillero del Diablo — the 'Devil's Cellar' where Don Melchor supposedly hid his finest wines. Guided tours run daily through the historic cellars, vineyards, and tasting rooms, culminating in pours of their premium Carmenère, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Casillero del Diablo labels. Upgrade to the premium Don Melchor experience for vertical tastings of their flagship wine. The estate is 45 minutes by car from Santiago via the Autopista del Sol south, or join one of the many organised day tours from Miraflores. Book online in advance, especially on weekends. Pair the visit with nearby Viña Santa Rita or Viña Undurraga for a full Maipo Valley wine day.
